The baggy area from the waist down to the cuffs look like there is some blooming going on. Think of a flower that is about to bloom and you’ll get an idea. The other origin of the name bloomers was from the girls who wore them. During the early nineteen hundreds, the girls who wore these bloomers were in their pre teens to teenage years. Since they are in the stage of pre womanhood, they are considered to be bloomers. The young girls are blooming into becoming women.

Bloomers can be of the underwear type and of the athletic type. Bloomers worn as the athletic type have a jogging pants style to it. They can be worn at the gym and make very comfortable workout clothes. The fabric used for these athletic bloomers is usually the thicker types of fabric. Bloomers as underwear nowadays use the thinner fabrics. These lingerie type of bloomers are very comfortable when worn to bed and can be worn throughout the day as well.
